The journey of this Cowboy starts with the selection of “Summer Survivors,” as the master distiller Donnis calls the 8- and 9-year-old barrels that endured the long, hot spells of Texas summers. The 2022 Cowboy release features an uncut and unfiltered straight bourbon whiskey, clocking in at a powerful 134.8 proof. Incredibly smooth for a bourbon so strong, its blooming warm and sweet aromas overpower the strength of the proof. The angels already took their cut, leaving you with a limited amount of 9,600 bottles.

About Garrison Brothers

Situated on a rolling ranch in Texas Hill Country, Garrison Brothers Distillery was founded in 2005. The distillery is the oldest legal whiskey distillery in Texas. “Like everything in the Lone Star State, our dreams were big from the start,” says Dan Garrison, the distillery’s owner. “We didn’t want to make just any bourbon “we wanted to make the best bourbon ever made.”

You can expect a sweet and gentle opening on the nose, with a blend of newly tanned leather, walnuts, monkey bread, and spring jasmine. The palate is sweet yet dark with a surprising touch of cacao chocolate, Syrupy Dublin dr. Pepper, blackstrap molasses, brown sugar, carob, and dates. The finish is long, meandering through chocolate and cinnamon spices.
