About Sazerac 18 Year Old 2018 Antique Collection Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey
The 2018 release of Buffalo Trace Sazerac 18YO from their Antique Collection is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey that was distilled in 1998. Crafted with Minnesota rye, Kentucky corn, and North Dakota malted barley, the whiskey spent 18 years in new American white oak #4 char casks. The 2018 release was bottled from 24 barrels at 90 proof.

About Sazerac Rye
Buffalo Trace’s award-winning Sazerac brand is a tribute to the Sazerac Coffee House (at the time, the term “coffee house” was used to refer to a cocktail bar) and the role it played in replacing brandy with rye whiskey in the cocktail of the same name.
About Rye
As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin.
It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.
By law, rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye grain, aged in new and charred oak barrels for at least two years, and bottled at no more than 62,5% ABV.
